Exceptional Antique Arts & Crafts Double Student Desk Lamp - Slag Glass
$1,200.00
Offered is this striking and substantial Arts & Crafts period double student desk lamp, crafted of iron with its original brass-plated surface, now displaying a rich patina accumulated over decades of age and use. The design features two gracefully arched arms supporting matching trapezoidal shades fitted with beautifully mottled caramel and cream slag glass panels, all original to the lamp.
The lamp retains its original Hubble acorn-pull chain sockets housed within the shades, preserving its authentic character while providing reliable modern functionality. The iron and brass-plated surfaces were carefully cleaned to remove dust and dirt without disturbing the desirable aged finish, then professionally sealed with a protective satin finish to help preserve the patina for years to come.
This is a lamp that helps hold your desk down, as it weighs a little more than 16 pounds.
Rewired with a period-appropriate black cloth-covered cord, the lamp is ready for use. A few tiny white paint specks remain in isolated areas; these were intentionally left untouched to avoid any risk of damaging the original patinated surface.
Condition is very good overall, with no damage, cracks, repairs to the metalwork or glass. The slag glass panels are intact and display wonderful color variation when illuminated. An impressive example of Arts & Crafts lighting that combines architectural presence, handcrafted character, and warm ambient illumination.
Dimensions:
19"H
19-3/4"W
7-3/4"D
7-3/4" square at base
Each shade is about 7-3/4" square
Age: Circa. 1910–1925
