Vintage Navajo Fetish Bear Necklace
SOLD
This exceptional Navajo fetish necklace is large and impressive. It is distinguished by its considerable length and features exquisitely hand-carved turquoise bears at its lower end, with the largest bear measuring roughly 2 inches by 5/8 inch.
Scattered among these prominent turquoise carvings are additional fetishes, meticulously crafted from a variety of stones and shells. Originates from the mid to late 20th century.
The turquoise used for the large bear fetishes appears to be sourced from the Number Eight turquoise mine in Eureka County, Nevada.
The necklace measures approximately 17 inches long hanging straight down (tip of bear to top of loop), and is a substantial 151 grams.
