Offered is this vintage, depression era, Santo Domingo Pueblo Thunderbird necklace, with matching earrings. After the stock market crash of 1929 and the Great Depression, the residents of Santo Domingo Pueblo began creating and selling unique jewelry made from recycled plastic materials, as well as crushed turquoise and other materials.
This necklace and matching earrings are made of red and black plastic, turquoise chips, and likely gypsum, or some other material for the beads.
Necklace measures about 24-1/2" not including the clasp. The Thunderbird measures 2-3/8" x 2-1/8".
The screw-back earrings measure about 1-1/2"H x 1-3/8"W" (not including the screw-backs).
