Antique Meissen Porcelain Mirror - Marie Antoinette Portrait - Cherubs

$2,100.00

$1,600.00

Offered is this Large Antique, 18th century, Meissen Porcelain mirror with portrait of Marie Antoinette.

The oval frame is lavishly adorned with a vibrant palette of meticulously hand-painted flowers in full bloom.

At the apex and base of the mirror are two stunning medallions, the top having a portrait of Marie Antoinette, and the bottom showing what appears to be two artist cherubs collaborating on a painting.

The back of the mirror is wood, with an easel stand. Based on how it is made, one would assume that there were once legs to balance it on whole on the stand, but we don't see where they might have been. The mirror can also hang on the wall with the rope on the back.

The mirror itself is beveled in the intricate shape of the porcelain frame. This mirror is not just a mirror—it's a conversation starter.

CONDITION:
The mirror has some damage, especially on and around the top medallion portrait. You can see cracks and some past restoration. There is also some crack/restoration on the laurel leaves on the right side of the portrait medallion. Also, on the bottom, where it bares the Meissen mark (late 18th century to early 19th century), it appears to have some restoration.

The mirror is all intact, though it has some areas of dark fogging and dark marks on areas of the silvering. Overall, the mirror is better than one might expect.
