1937 English Copper Street Lamp Light Fixture - Fulham Di-Fractor Lantern
$3,200.00
Offered is a scarce English Street Lamp converted to a hanging light pendant. This is a Fulham Di-Fractor Lantern, made by the General Electric Company, Ltd. of England. This lantern appears to have been made only around 1937.
Made of copper with the original iron fitting on top, though it's been fitted with a loop, chain and canopy. The bezel has 3 turnbuckles to secure the shade ring to the fixture body. Originally, this used a 400W Mercury bulb, but now is fitted with a single porcelain standard socket, which can handle a standard bulb (we recommend a high equivalent wattage, dimmable LED bulb).
Purchased from a West Orange, NJ home, where it was hanging over their kitchen island. Offered as we received it, except for rewiring and new, longer black chain.
The copper body has a few dents in it, and some spray paint (appears to be same color as on the shade reflector), which we tried to gently remove, without success. The iron fitting has a few coats of black paint, with some chips, but certainly does not lack character.
The Holophane type, ribbed shade is original and marked with British patents.
Measures:
68-1/2"L overall. Can be 36" shorter by removing some chain.
18"W at the reflector
