Antique 1914 Victor Victrola VV-IX Phonograph & Record Cabinet - Mahogany

$1,295.00

Offered is a very pretty, 1914 Victor Victrola VV-IX Phonograph, with Record Cabinet in Mahogany. Comes from a PA estate, where it sat right inside the front door. While we are not experts on antique phonographs, this one appeared to be cherished, and used, by the previous owner.

STYLE: VV-IX
SERIAL: 129133 F

Appears to have had some finish care over the years, but the original finish seems intact, as you can still see the ripples in it. There are some minor dings and scratches that were obviously touched up, but it displays very well (more photos are available on request). Most obvious flaws are the tiny piece missing at the top end of one tone door, a few dings on the front edge of the base cabinet, and chip on the left bottom record rack.

The player seems to work well, too. Cranking it up, we don't hear anything odd with the springs, and it plays smoothly and sounds warm and wonderful. The turntable felt could use some new felt, but that's not uncommon. Most of the nickle plating on the crank and handle looks in decent shape, with some minor wear.

The reproducer works, and to us, looks original. There are extra needles in the needle holder inside.
