Offered is a pair of Mystic Seaport, hand poured, Deck Prism lamps.

These are made as reproductions by Mystic Seaport in 1997.

The glass prisms are hand-crafted imitations of deck prisms, originally discovered on a 19th-century whaling vessel. The prisms possess six facets, with a hexagonal foundation. They were originally designed to align with the deck's surface, while the pyramid-shaped prism extended downwards to illuminate the area beneath the deck. These are well crafted duplicates of the original prisms, fitted to lamp bases, which work perfectly as night lights, or bedside lamps.

The paperwork on the prisms has a 1986 date, but I believe they were purchased at the same time as the bases, the boxes having a date of 1997. They are complete with their original blue velvet pouches., and the original boxes.

Each measures 6"H x 5"W (flat side to flat side).
The prisms alone measure 4-1/2"H x 4-1/8" (flat side to flat side).
