1920s Art Deco Slip Shade Fixture - Max Schaffer

SOLD

Offered is this very Art Deco, 5-light slip shade style fixture from the Max Schaffer Company of New York. This is a pretty scarce fixture to find complete with the shades. It is signed Max Schaffer Co inside the canopy and inside the bottom wire cover, just above the finial (see pics).

From the canopy to the bottom finial, this chandelier screams Art Deco. The panels of the main body have a deco floral design, all of which is fully intact. Other than the newer brass sockets and wiring, nothing appears to have been changed on this fixture. The shades are a scalloped cased opal glass with blackened decorative lines.

The fixture is made of iron with a dark silver or nickel finish, and is in very good condition. The are some spots, which one might expect but nothing that detracts from the overall beauty of the light. The shades are crack free and have some small nicks along the edges, but nothing serious.
